Iced Cowboy Coffee

Well, the fabulous ladies of Gooseberry Patch did it again! I wanted to make a refreshing, light, fun drink for our Father's Day BBQ. So I pulled out my Celebrate Summer Gooseberry Patch cookbook and found a super cute recipe for Iced Cowboy Coffee. Being from Texas, I knew this was going to be a sure-fire hit. I made a few small changes to the recipe based on my alcohol preferences, and it was GONE in a flash!!

Iced Cowboy Coffee

6 tsp instant coffee
5 cups milk
1 whole nutmeg, finely grated
1.2 oz. milk chocolate
6 tsp brown sugar
6 tbs whiskey (the original recipe called for brandy)
2 tbs Amaretto (not in the original recipe)

In medium saucepan, whisk together coffee, milk, nutmeg, chocolate and sugar until heated through. When the chocolate is melted, add the alcohol and mix thoroughly. Serve over ice.

This was sweet without being too sweet. It wasn't a mocha, but you could faintly taste the chocolate. The freshly ground nutmeg was DELIGHTFUL! You could actually smell it before you drank it and its lovely spice permeated the whole drink. The alcohol actually complemented the drink rather than overwhelming it, which in my opinion, rarely happens with alcoholic drinks. I will for sure be making this drink again.

  1. Sounds yummy! I keep forgetting - I have a marinade for you to try sometime for country style spareribs. It's the best!
