Drop Dead Diva

When it comes to TV, I'm pretty much a reality TV junkie (only the good ones...Survivor, Amazing Race, The Next Food Network Star, Project Runway, Design Star, Top Chef, The Last American Cowboy, American Idol, The Biggest Loser), but I do have a guilty pleasure...a show I love to love in spite of its completely unrealistic tendencies and totally out there story lines. My sister Kylla got me hooked on Drop Dead Diva (DDD) last year when it first came out and now it's our show to talk about and laugh about and just plain chat about. It's on Lifetime, which I only watch for Project Runway and DDD, on Sundays at 6 p.m. here in Washington state. It's silly, goofy, and a little fun.

Other non-reality shows I love?

Psych
The Closer
Jack Hanna's Animal Adventures (I guess that's kind of a reality show)
Monk (even though it's over now)
Phineas and Ferb (yep, it's a kid's show)
Sunny with a Chance (yep, another kid's show)

Everything else is a food-related cooking show:
Chopped
The Barefoot Contessa
Molto Mario
Cupcake Wars (don't really care for the show, but like seeing all the cool cupcakes)
Iron Chef America

If you haven't tried DDD, give it a shot...don't expect moving drama or superior acting, although I think Brooke Elliot, who plays the main character Jane, is pretty good, but do expect some cute, quirky characters, some sneakily funny jokes (especially from ditsy Stacey) and some well-placed songs (yep, I said songs).

  1. I love DDD! That show makes me smile, and we all need that once in awhile. I ADORE the Closer as well and then you must check out The Deadliest Warrior on Spike...none of these shows have anything in common, but they are all great. Go Jane on DDD! Great show.
